Tow Foundation Residency at Second Stage

3/17/2014

The Tow Foundation has launched a one-year playwriting residency program for emerging playwrights, and I am happy to announce that I will be one of the five playwrights participating in the 2014-2015 season at Second Stage Theatre.

The residency includes development support for new and existing work, mentorship opportunities with members of the New York theater community, health care benefits, and a $75,000 grant. At the end of the residency year, Second Stage will produce a new full-length play of mine at Second Stage Theatre Uptown in the summer of 2015.

The play I will write tracks a pair of ghost hunters in rural Virginia and considers the danger of underestimating the power of women. While currently in its earliest stages, I'm inspired by my visits to the spare and rustic farmland of western Virginia, where my family has lived for the past decade, as well as the intersection of feminism and the supernatural.
