Yale Drama Series Award Ceremony

11/4/2016

The Yale Drama Series Prize ceremony took place earlier this week, awarding my play Utility with the annual prize. I was lucky to have my very excellent original cast and director from the world premiere production join me to present a reading of the play at Lincoln Center.

It's rare for a playwright to get to watch her cast revisit their roles six months later, especially after a period of six months during which so much has changed in the social and political state of America. The politics of the play, always just beneath the surface, snapped a little more crisply on Tuesday, and the underbelly of capitalism casts a slightly larger shadow.

(R) My mom and me, listening to people talk about Utility.
